It's Happening FOR You

There was a situation at work today that caused some chaos within the environment. For privacy's sake, I'm keeping things vague, but I know we've all been there - a coworker did something that setback the team, an important aspect of a project fell through, or a situation wasn't handled fairly. You get the idea.

This particular event stirred up thoughts like -

"I don't want to do this"

"I can't believe this happened again"

"This person is not nice"

"I don't want to work with them"

"I feel bad that I have to do this"

These thoughts created feelings of anxiety and anger.

If I look back at the situation in hindsight, I'm choosing to believe and remind myself:

- The person only said words. I can respond to those words however I'd like to.

- This person is teaching me patience, curiosity, and compassion

- This whole event only took 15 minutes or less. I don't need to give it any more of my time

- Maybe this person is here to open their eyes to their misguided ways. Being here may help them transform.

- These challenging situations are giving me courage and confidence as I learn what I am capable of handling.

I'm switching my perspective from "Why is this happening to me?" to "How is this happening for me?" I believe all things are conspiring in my favor and although I don't enjoy experiences like this, I know they're ultimately making me stronger.

Today’s challenge: Take a challenging moment you’ve experienced recently and see if you can find the goodness within it.
